Emotions

Emotions are affective states that we experience facing environmental events or our own thoughts. Emotions and feelings are not the same. Emotions have an adaptive function and serve as a compass to guide us by what we like or dislike, which causes us pleasure or pain. Therefore, emotions are abrupt and sudden, while feelings are more lasting states.

There are six primary emotions: fear, surprise, aversion, anger, joy and sadness. The secondary emotions list is much broader and more complex since it is usually mediated by our expectations, experiences and beliefs. Learning to manage the emotions is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, so you can regain control of your life and stop reacting according to the circumstances. For this, it is essential to develop the Emotional Intelligence.
